We have been providing after-sales services for Mitsubishi for over a decade. In 2025, it will completely withdraw from the market. For us, this is not news; it's just a mess that we have been dealing with for a long time.
  1. Before the entire company collapsed, the after-sales service had already "run out of supplies".
    GAC Mitsubishi ceased production in 2023, but as early as around 2021, original parts began to be in short supply and the waiting time for delivery extended to two to three months. It wasn't a sudden withdrawal; rather, the supply chain collapsed first. We in the after-sales department knew it was going bad earlier than the media.
  2. A sudden decline in technology output, a collapse of the maintenance ecosystem
    The 4G series engines of Shenyang Aerospace Mitsubishi once supported over 10,000 repair shops across the country - parts were abundant, maintenance was simple, and anyone could do it. However, after the popularization of domestic brand engines, the share of 4G engines dropped from 30% to below 5%, and the supporting spare parts, maintenance data, and specialized tools naturally shrank. Now when repairing the older Pajero and Outlander models, even the computer diagnostic devices require the use of older versions.
  3. The "three major after-effects" after delisting
    • Prices of accessories have skyrocketed: Original factory parts are being hoarded by a few distributors. A single bumper is now three times more expensive than it was before production ceased.
    • Reconditioned vehicle parts take the lead: In Guangzhou and various racetracks, the old Mitsubishi vehicles have become a "living parts warehouse".
    • Maintenance technology gap: 4S stores have withdrawn from the market, and the manufacturer's technical training has come to a halt. Many faults can only be "fixed" by veteran technicians based on their experience.
  4. Mitsubishi's fatal mistake: Not leaving any room for after-sales services
    Compared to Suzuki which withdrew from China but signed long-term parts supply agreements, opened up technical information, and authorized third-party maintenance, Mitsubishi did almost nothing. The entire after-sales market was left "halfway" behind. This is not a strategic mistake; it is the absence of contractual spirit.
From the perspective of after-sales service, Mitsubishi's failure was not due to the poor quality of the vehicles, but because it completely abandoned its final responsibility towards users and the market throughout the supply chain and repair ecosystem. The true exit of a brand is never marked by the news of product discontinuation; rather, it is the day when a car owner gets into an accident and the repair shop tells you "This part cannot be found nationwide".
